Deshalb hat im Hinblick auf die Zukunftsfähigkeit die Idee einer „nachhaltigen Entwicklung“ in den letzten Jahren zunehmende Beachtung gefunden. Ihr Ziel ist nämlich die „langfristige Sicherung der natürlichen Lebensgrundlagen, wirtschaftliche Stabilität und soziale Verträglichkeit“ miteinander zu vereinbaren (Petschow 1998).
Vor diesem Hintergrund ist das Ziel dieser Arbeit nun herauszufinden, ob nachhaltige Entwicklung im Umweltbereich und ökonomische Globalisierung überhaupt vereinbar sind.
